Olympic College is pleased to announce Chef Nancy Aala as the new catering director. Chef Aala brings a wealth of knowledge and culinary experience to her new position at Olympic College. She worked with world-class celebrity chefs like Julia Child and Stephan Pyles. She cooked with Chef Pyles at two banquets for the historic James Beard House in New York City. Read more

Dr. David Mitchell, President of Olympic College, was recognized for his leadership in workforce development when he received the Economic Development Champion Award on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) Annual Meeting. Read more here
Jonathan Franklin and Kyle Walker, two Olympic College students, were selected for the All-Washington Academic Team this year. The All-Washington Academic Team annually honors two outstanding students from each two-year college in the state. Franklin and Walker will be honored in a recognition ceremony at noon Thursday, March 22, 2012 at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. The two students will each receive a $750 scholarship, which includes $500 from the Northwest Education Loan Association and $250 from Key Bank. Read more
Olympic College was ranked as the top two-year college on the west coast for military veterans by Military Times Edge. Over 500 student veterans were surveyed in spring 2011 on what they consider the most important school services for vets. The factors they considered in selecting a college are: academic accreditation; central veterans’ offices; and staff knowledgeable on veterans’ issues. Results of the survey informed the magazine’s rankings of two-year colleges across the country. Eighteen colleges that offer two-year degrees in the US made the list. Olympic College was ranked fifth and was the only two-year institution from Washington State. The opening night of a student photo exhibit, titled “Looking Glass,” is on March 7, 2012 at Olympic College. This year marks the 10th year of showcasing the work of OC’s photography students. Each year the exhibit has a different theme. This year’s photo show features the works of students from the years 2010–2012 and will be judged in several categories. Read more
