BREMERTON, WASH. – Olympic College will host the third annual Science, Engineering and Mathematics (SEM) Information Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at the college’s Bremerton campus. This event is aimed at high school students and anyone considering careers involving science, engineering or mathematics.
Olympic College’s faculty and staff will be available to answer questions and highlight the college’s numerous SEM degree programs. Exhibits will be on display and OC’s Astronomy department planned a fascinating planetarium presentation. Tours of the state-of- the-art Science and Technology (Sci/Tech) building will be available throughout the evening. Classes held in the building during the event may welcome visitors from 7:25 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. (See schedule available during the event for more information).
“Olympic College is a very affordable option for transfer students and is right in Kitsap’s own backyard,” said Dr. Judi Brown, Dean of MESH. “It is a great idea to complete the first two years of your SEM degree at OC. Our students experience small class sizes, save money on tuition and commuting, and receive high quality instruction from dedicated, experienced faculty members.”
In addition, Washington State University has a Mechanical Engineering (ME) program on campus with local faculty for place-bound students who have earned an Associate of Science Track 2 degree. More information about the ME program will be provided by Dr. Marvin Pitts, program coordinator and faculty member.
There is no need to register and admission is free. Visitors are welcome anytime during this event. The event will be held in the lobby of the Sci/Tech Building on OC’s Bremerton campus located at 1600 Chester Avenue. The event is sponsored by OC’s Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, and Health (MESH) Division.
